Abstract

Considerations of automation increase in plastics processing plants through introduction of robots or extractors removing parts from injection molds and transferring them to subsequent operations. Labor savings and substantial operating efficiencies are going to necessitate significantly increased use of such systems in plastics molding. What are robots, and how a robot can work in the existing molding shop, is described and illustrated. Automated stacking for cups, bottles and other containers, is also mentioned as a possible field of application for robots.
