Susceptibility of CuFe near the Kondo temperature

    Abstract

    The susceptibility of dilute amounts of iron in copper has been measured from 4°K to 30°K, which covers the Kondo temperature 7°K. Previous measurements, above 30°K, show a (T + 32)-1 behavior. An additional contribution is found which can be attributed to the formation of a spin polarization of conduction electrons about each impurity.
