Some remarks on the quasilinear treatment of the stochastic acceleration problem

Abstract

The range of applicability of the quasilinear theory is discussed through the example of the stochastic acceleration of a test particle in a random electric field. The scheme is able to reproduce the non-standard diffusive behaviors observed in direct numerical simulations.
