Security assessment of microfluidic immunoassays

Abstract

Microfluidic biochips enable an automated, rapid, samplesparing bioassay implementation. This technology is poised to drive the diagnosis market that uses immunoassay-based biomarkers. However, we envision serious security concerns when biochips replace traditional benchtop assays. In this paper, we assess the security of microfluidic immunoassays that use either digital or continuous-flow-based microfluidic biochips. We illustrate and organize attacks on practical immunoassay biochips.
