Nuclear stopping in Au + Au collisions at √S NN = 200 GeV

    Abstract

    The proton and antiproton production and baryon stopping in Au + Au collisions at √S NN = 200 GeV were measured. The collision centrality was determined using a multiplicity array located around the nominal interaction point (IP). The net-proton distribution showed that collisions at relativistic heavy ion collider (RHIC) energies were quite transparent compared to lower energies. It was found that the rapidity loss scaling observed at lower energy was broken and the rapidity loss was found to saturate between super proton synchrotron (SPS) and RHIC energies.
