The effects of an embedded multimedia intervention for narrowing the vocabulary gap before kindergarten

Abstract

This chapter describes key principles for helping children to acquire oral vocabulary development. It then highlights the effects of an embedded multimedia intervention on low-income children’s developing vocabulary and conceptual knowledge. It argues that media can have a synergistic effect on children’s learning when well crafted to promote achievement.
