Gated time projection chamber

    Abstract

    We describe test results on the operation of a gated time projection chamber. Symmetric pulses of ±120 V, applied to alternate wires of a gating grid, turn the detector from an insensitive state to a sensitive state without impairing the readout of the chamber for more than 2.5 μs.
