Dynamic dense WDM network

Abstract

The backbone switch performs the virtual path switching and the wavelength conversion in electric domain. It consists of wavelength demultiplexer/multiplexer line interface cards and a Clos-type circuit switch. The multiplexer/demultiplexer function is implemented by using a low cost integrated coherent receivers. The blocking probability in the WDM network reduces significantly as the number of wavelength increases.
