DETERMINATION OF THE ENERGY GAP IN Nb0. 75Zr0. 25 USING A PROXIMITY TUNNELING METHOD.

Abstract

The authors have observed a well defined structure in the tunneling density of states N//T(E) for junctions of the form In/AlNb//0//. //7//5Zr//0//. //2//5. Their observation permits them to determine 2 DELTA /kT//C equals 4. 1 at T//C equals 10. 7 K in Nb//0//. //7//5Zr//0//. //2//5. The method may be applicable to other superconductors which do not form a suitable thermal oxide tunnel barrier.
