    Abstract

Methyl N-(triethylammoniumsulfonyl)carbamate, also known as Burgess regent, is a mild yet powerful dehydrating agent. Usefulness of the regent in various synthetic transformations and in the synthesis of various heterocyclic systems has been reviewed.
