A physicist's view of energy supply

Abstract

A physicist's view of energy supply is studied. The substantial amount of of 'clean energy' required to generate the hydrogen in the first place would be better off used in reducing the carbon-dioxide emissions from stationary sources. There is a chance that a new generation of solar cells based on 'engineered materials' could play a more substantial role. Nuclear power should be expanded so long as 'the right attention is paid to the problems that come along with it, such as safety, proliferation resistance and waste management.
